Free youth photography program in Chicago

FreshLens Chicago - High School Photography Program
The FreshLens Chicago photography program meets twice a week (Wednesday’s from 4:30p-6:30p and Saturdays from 9:00a-1:00p).
The program is fully funded through donations and there is no cost for participating students. Students are required to meet an income verification standard (Information is on application).
During the classroom portion, students will learn fundamentals of digital photography, camera operation, composition, take photo walks and field trips. Students will complete assignments both in and out of class. In the lab module, students receive instruction in Adobe Lightroom editing software as well as learning the fundamentals of printing.
All students will have the opportunity to exhibit their work.
Each student will learn to matte and frame their work and will have the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work. Students will retain 50% of the sale of their work.
Students will work on personal and life skills.
The program is also designed to foster personal growth by building leadership and teamwork skills and by helping students learn to accept responsibility. Each student does a self-assessment and examines the qualities of a successful individual.
Students successfully completing the program will be given a gently used camera to keep as their own.
FreshLens Chicago meets at Richard Stromberg’s Chicago Photography Classes (RSCPC) at 4001 N. Ravenswood Ave. Chicago, IL.
