Housewarming Project to Support The Night Ministry
FreshLens Chicago: Bringing the Gift of Photography to Those Recently Housed by The Night Ministry
Introduction:
FreshLens Chicago, a group of passionate student photographers dedicated to using their craft for social good, is proud to launch a heartwarming service project to support individuals recently housed through The Night Ministry. Through this initiative, the students will provide framed photographic prints that bring warmth, beauty, and a sense of personal connection to new homes, helping to create spaces filled with hope and possibility.
Project Overview:
This project centers on offering framed photographs that highlight the beauty, resilience, and diversity of Chicago. Each image, carefully selected by FreshLens students, is meant to be more than just a decoration—it’s a visual story that aims to inspire pride, comfort, and a sense of belonging in the new homes of those transitioning out of homelessness. These photos serve as symbols of strength and resilience, creating a tangible connection to the city and a reminder of brighter days ahead.
Collaboration with The Night Ministry:
The Night Ministry has long been a lifeline for those experiencing homelessness in Chicago, providing not only shelter but also healthcare and support for individuals as they transition into permanent housing. FreshLens Chicago is honored to collaborate with The Night Ministry, not just to deliver photographs, but to bring a deeper sense of hope and stability to those beginning a new chapter in their lives. The framed prints will offer more than just aesthetic value—they’ll represent the strength, resilience, and potential within each individual.
In Honor of Barb Bolsen:
This project is dedicated to the memory of Barb Bolsen, a long-time employee of The Night Ministry, as well as a talented photographer and photography student at Chicago Photography Classes. Barb’s passion for both her work and photography left a lasting impact on those who knew her. Through this project, FreshLens seeks to honor her legacy and continue her mission of bringing light and beauty to those in need. Chicago Photography Classes will be donating frames to help the project get off the ground.
Impact:
The framed prints will serve as more than just decoration; they’ll provide a sense of stability and comfort to those who have faced significant challenges in their lives. Each photograph will be a reminder of the beauty of the world and the possibilities that await, helping to foster a sense of hope, pride, and belonging in a new home.
How You Can Help:
FreshLens Chicago invites you to be part of this meaningful initiative by purchasing a print or framed print created by a FreshLens student and donating it to the “Housewarming Project.” When you make this purchase, the Freshlens student will earn half of the profits, and your donation will bring comfort and support to individuals transitioning into new homes. With your help, we can make a real difference, building a stronger and more compassionate community for everyone.
