FreshLens envisions a future in which Chicago youth from under-resourced communities have equitable, sustained access to high-quality arts education that fosters creative expression, social-emotional well-being, and pathways to leadership. Grounded in community investment and stewardship, FreshLens helps build strong neighborhoods by empowering young people to tell their stories, develop professional and civic skills, and shape a more creative and just future.
Our Mission
FreshLens provides high-quality, photography-based visual arts education to under-resourced culturally diverse youth in Chicago communities. Through sustained, community-centered programming, FreshLens removes financial barriers to arts education while building creative confidence and transferable life skills. Using photography as a tool for self-expression and engagement with the world around them, students develop communication, collaboration, responsibility, and strong work habits while exploring pathways to leadership and career success.
