Summer Programming
We are excited about our robust summer programming. Below are some of the highlights:
Brand New Course: CoGen
We were honored to have received a grant from Innovation 80 to offer a new class. With the premise of developing a greater understanding between generations, students were paired with advanced retired adult photographers. The pair designed, photographed, edited and framed a project. Come and meet the class and see the exciting work that they’ve created at the Ravenswood ArtWalk on Saturday, September 14 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. View showcase here.
Community Partners
Photography Exposure and Visual Literacy Workshop – We offered one-day workshops to high school students from My Block, My Hood, My City and Minds Matter. Students were highly engaged and reported having a great time.
One Summer Chicago – In coordination with A Knock at Midnight, we created and led an intensive 6-week (24 hours per week) program where students were paid to participate.
Regular Programming
Basic Class – 14 new students completed an 8-week course, and all students earned a camera. The basic summer class exhibit will be at the Ravenswood ArtWalk on Saturday, September 14 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. View showcase here.
Advanced Class – Students learned advanced concepts, designed, and developed a book that FreshLens published for each student.
Event A – Students began to develop fundamentals of photographing and editing events. Students also focused on learning important business skills.
FreshLens Ebay Store
FreshLens frequently receives in-kind photography equipment donations by companies and individuals from coast to coast. Equipment that can be used by our students will be incorporated into our various programs. The thousands of items donated that we are unable to use directly, are sold on our Ebay store.
