WHO WE ARE

FreshLens Chicago is a tuition-free photography program for high school and middle school students from under-resourced areas of Chicago. Our core mission is to expand access to art programming by helping students grow in confidence, learn team-building skills, build friendships, and give students the tools and knowledge they need to succeed as photographers and in life. Upon successful completion of the program meeting all requirements, students receive a camera to keep as their own.

FreshLens offers a variety of programs to students from all across the Chicago area. From our initial summer (2017) of 12 students, we are now providing year-round programming. Currently, we have a Basic Program (4 sessions per year), an Advanced Program (3 sessions per year), and Applied Techniques & Lighting (4 sessions) and we offer exposure classes on the far South Side and West Sides of Chicago with plans to expand.

Consistent and generous funding is critical to expand our reach to meet the demand of Chicago’s aspiring photographers and for ensuring the continued success of our programs.

The Cheers to 10 Years event is our fundraising event to raise funds and awareness of our programming. The evening will feature:

• Silent Auction with one-of-a-kind experience packages, and other exclusive offerings

• Mini games and social activities

• Connect with our incredible and talented students

• Enjoy drinks and delicious food

• Partake in a pickleball tournament or spectate from the sidelines
